A conversation with Lana Toggenburger about the LIPSCHULE as an employer - Lipschule

Lana Toggenburger, you’re responsible for Cycle 1 at the LIPSCHULE. Why did you choose the LIPSCHULE as an employer?

There were several reasons for this. On the one hand, I liked the philosophy of the LIPSCHULE, which focuses very much on the personal development of its students. On the other hand, I was immediately impressed by the pleasant working atmosphere and the fact that interaction between the people here is characterized by respect and goodwill. And last but not least, the conditions were right (smiles).

What distinguishes the LIPSCHULE from your previous employers?

The working atmosphere is extraordinary for me, because I find both the teaching staff and the management to be very cooperative and empathetic. I know from previous jobs that this is not always the case. And then there’s another difference: I previously took care of children up to the age of three; since I’ve been at the LIPSCHULE, I’ve been teaching three to six-year-olds.

What material benefits do you particularly appreciate?

Of course, the remuneration, which is in line with the market and also includes a 13th monthly salary. But there are also other benefits: the LIPSCHULE has a car, which we can borrow for private and professional use, it provides free lunches, free parking and there is a generous budget for further training.

Are there also intangible benefits at the LIPSCHULE?

Yes, we have the same amount of annual leave as teachers at state schools and also flexible working hours. I particularly appreciate the latter, because if I plan carefully I can sometimes take longer absences.

Do you have any wishes for your employer that have not yet been fulfilled?

Not really – but given that prices are rising on all fronts, I’d welcome it if the LIPSCHULE would compensate us for inflation in the future.
