An interview with Daniel Schubiger about LIPSCHULE and its Open House Day

An interview with Daniel Schubiger about LIPSCHULE and its Open House Day - Lipschule

What reasons are there to turn your back on the public school and go to a private school instead?

Many parents have recognised the advantages of mixed-age learning. We have implemented this concept throughout the entire school, from Kindergarten to the Secondary School and we encourage exchanges between one another in a very specific manner. There are many families who depend on full day care for their children. We offer opening hours from 7.30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and our in-house chef prepares well-balanced snacks and lunches.  Our students also receive support with their homework in the “Lernlabor”. Last but not least, we benefit from the fact that we are a recognised Swiss private school and comply with the Lehrplan 21(public school curriculum). Our almost 12-year experience in competence-orientated teaching offers parents additional security.

What is the specific difference between LIPSCHULE and other educational institutes?

One example is the found in our name. LIP means “learning is personal development”. The holistic approach to learning is very important to us. In order to achieve this, we work in smaller same aged groups of eight to ten children. This allows us to quickly recognise individual strengths and weaknesses and respond appropriately. The development of the interdisciplinary skills however is reached by the mixed ages of our students and through close contact with the teachers.  We rely on competency profiles rather than grades. This principle, which is also from the Lehrplan 21, is much more meaningful than the conventional assessments. We are also a licensed Montessori School in which Basisstufe 1 and 2 offer diverse and attractive teaching materials.  Furthermore, we also value competent support in foreign languages at all levels. That is why French and English are taught only by native speakers.  We believe that learning is easier in a pleasant atmosphere. Over 20 years ago, our school moved into the spacious, bright and former factory building. Over time we have adapted it to the needs of a modern educational institute.

Why are you holding an open house on January 23, 2021?

Before I answer this question, I need to explain that the open house will take place if the epidemiological situation allows such events at that time. Showing the school on site is the best way to display how certain concepts can function in practice. Visitors can speak to our employees and get to know our attitude towards personal development. These intense exchanges leave a lasting impression and it ensures that the families can decide on a sound basis if LIPSCHULE is the right school for them and their children.

What can one look forward to?

Our visitors receive an exclusive insight to our every day school life and a tour of our rooms. During the tour you can experience a detailed information exchange from one of the present teachers about the various forms of teaching and also a chance to view some work from current students. Additionally, there are attractive prizes to be won in a competition – either immediately or after the conclusion of a contract. Thanks to a small aperitif your physical well-being will not be neglected. For this event we have a specially developed protection concept, therefore, we kindly ask you to register here.

How can parents and children get to know the advantages of LIPSCHULE if they are unable to attend the open house on January 23rd 2021?

You can find detailed information on our website, including a virtual tour of our classrooms. We are also happy to arrange individual appointments. You can contact us by email at lip@lipschule.ch or call us at +41 44 480 0880 – We look forward to hearing from you!
