It is important to us that children can remain adventurous and keep the enthusiasm they naturally bring with them for as long as possible.
Since the 1980s Daniel Schubiger has worked passionately as a teacher. Even back then, in public schools, he taught according to the same values that would later be used at the Lip. The children received a daily or weekly plan and could organize part of their work themselves. It worked because children and young people were taken seriously and their autonomy was strengthened.
Mr. Schubiger discovered this path together with like-minded people. He worked with people who share the same basic attitude: taking children seriously while remaining authentic and empathetic. He also found kindred spirits among the founding couples of the Lip school. When they decided to establish a private school, they asked Mr. Schubiger if he wanted to help shape it. His answer: "Yes, very gladly. Rock ’n’ Roll!"
First as a teacher, then in school leadership, and since 2013 as co-owner of the Lip: Mr. Schubiger has helped shape the school to this day alongside wonderful people who care for today's children and adolescents, because they are our shared future. The basic concept is still the same as in 1998: it places relationships with people at the center. Children are born naturally curious, motivated, and interested in the world. Children get up in the morning to do good. That's what counts and touches us adults every day. The school's task is to provide them with the appropriate space for that.
You can still find curiosity in Mr. Schubiger as well. In nature, unassuming details catch his eye, which he captures with his phone camera. The images are not edited; he takes them as they are. Just as he treats the people at the Lip: with complete openness.
