Montessori Education
Self-Directed Learning in a Prepared Environment
The primary goal is to accompany confident, responsible, and joyful individuals who can fully realize their potentials.
Montessori Education
The Montessori method is based on the principle that children are curious and can learn independently in a prepared environment. Adults are merely companions and intervene only when necessary. The goal is to foster confident and responsible individuals who can fully develop their individual potentials through the free choice of activities and respectful guidance.
Reform Educator Maria Montessori
Maria Montessori (1870–1952) was an Italian physician and educator. Through her observation and guidance of children with special needs, she drew her educational conclusions: children are naturally curious and can learn independently in a prepared environment when they are met with respect and trust. Based on this, she developed her first learning materials, some of which are still in use today.
Prepared Learning Environment
The principle of the child's independence and self-reliance requires an environment where they can move freely and feel comfortable. The environment contains everything necessary but nothing superfluous. Materials have their fixed place and are easily accessible to the child. The external structure helps children develop their own internal order.
"Help me do it myself."
Every child carries within them what they need to develop their personality and abilities. The role of adults is to accompany the children and create conditions that allow for nurturing, empowering relationships and experiences.
Children are Full-fledged, Unique Personalities
In Montessori education, children are viewed as competent beings with their own needs, interests, and developmental rhythms. Therefore, their decisions are taken seriously. Their feelings and opinions are respected, and they are not interrupted when they are working with concentration. This way, children receive genuine responsibility for their learning and environment – they are not just recipients of education but active co-creators.
Our Approach at Lip
At Lip, we work according to the principles of Montessori education. We are convinced that these principles are invaluable in strengthening children's initiative and self-confidence. Besides Maria Montessori's principles, we are not committed to any ideology or religious direction. Instead, we advocate for an open approach to foreign cultures and mutual tolerance.
